Psychological Fragility and Its Relationship to Self Defense Mechanisms among Unmarried Women

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the level of both psychological fragility and defense mechanisms among unmarried women, and the correlation between them. The study sample consisted of (216) unmarried women, who were chosen by the available method. The results of the study showed that the level of psychological fragility among unmarried women was moderate, and that there are differences in psychological fragility according to the variables of educational level and age. The results of the study also showed that the most common psychological defense mechanisms among unmarried women were daydreaming and the least common was projection, and that there were differences in the mechanisms according to defense according to the variables of educational level and social status. Finally, the study found a statistically significant relationship between psychological fragility and defense mechanisms among unmarried women.
