The Degree of Contribution of Educational Supervision in Enabling Teachers to Possess Teaching Competencies from the Point of View of English language Teachers in the Schools of the Northern Mazar Directorate of Education

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the degree of contribution of educational supervision in enabling teachers to possess teaching competencies from the point of view of English language teachers in the schools of the Northern Mazar Directorate of Education.  The study population was represented by male and female English language teachers in the Northern Mazar District, who numbered (134) male and female teachers. The participants were (111) male and female teachers. The instrument of the study was designed questionnaire consisting of (28) items which were divided into three domains: planning for teaching, evaluation, and developing professional relationships in the school environment.  The study showed that the degree of educational supervision’s contribution in enabling teachers to possess teaching competencies was high, and that the educational supervisor had a great role in supporting the teachers in the domains of planning for teaching and evaluation, in addition to developing professional relationships in the school environment.  Based on findings, the study recommends some recommendations and makes several suggestions.
