The Role of Vocational Education Teachers in Instilling the Concept of Vocational Education Among Students in Irbid Governorate' Schools from Teachers' View

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of vocational education teachers in instilling the concept of vocational education among students. The study population consisted of (752) teachers, and the study sample consisted of (152) teachers who study vocational education in Irbid Governorate schools in Jordan. To achieve the study goals, the descriptive approach, and a questionnaire consisting of (32) items divided into four domains: (cognitive, skill, emotional, and educational environment) domains were used. The results showed that the role of the vocational education teacher in instilling the concept of vocational education among students was (moderate), where the skill domain ranked first, with (high) level, while the cognitive domain came in the ranked last with (low) level. The results showed a significant difference in the role of teachers in instilling the concept of vocational education among students due to educational qualification variable, in favor of the campaign (higher education, bachelor), and years of experience variable, in favor of the category (more than 10 years), while no differences appeared due to the gender variable. According to these finding, the researcher recommends that teachers should pay attention to instilling the concept of vocational education among students, in a balanced manner, in all skill, cognitive, emotional, and educational environment fields, in addition to adopting standardized tests for detecting students’ professional tendencies as a main source for distributing students in vocational education paths.
