Digital technology and its role in achieving sustainable development requirements in basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the digital technology and its role in achieving the requirements of sustainable development in the basic education schools of The Sultanate of Oman, and to identify the impact of each of the variables: (gender, academic qualification). The researchers adopted the descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of (338) principals. The results of the study were based on a questionnaire consisting of three areas.

The study outcomes showed that the overall role of digital technology in achieving the requirements of sustainable development in basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman and its fields from the point of view of school principals came at a medium level, and the existence of statistically significant differences at (α=0.05) due to the effect of gender in favor of females, besides, there were no statistically significant differences due to the impact of Academic qualification variable.

The study recommended that the Department of School Performance Development in the governorates provide support and assistance to employ digital technology in all administrative processes with a view to its sustainability, and the embedding of digital technology courses in the curricula of faculties of Education to facilitate its implementation.
