The Ability of Mental Health And some variables in Predicting of Post-traumatic Growth among Parents Children with Disabilities

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the ability of mental health and some variables in predicating post- traumatic growth among parents of disabled children in Jordan. To achieve the aims of the study the two-researcher administrated mental health scale and post- traumatic growth scale. The sample of the study consisted of (309) parents of disabled children in Irbid. The findings of the study showed that there is an average degree for each of the mental health and post- traumatic growth. The findings of the study indicated that by increasing the value of the explained variance after the introduction of the autism spectrum and the parental sex of mental health, the three variables together explained (34.8%) of the variance in post-traumatic growth, and the value of "F" was a Statistically significant at the level of (α= 0.05 ). The introduction of mental health (28.2%) explained the variance in post-traumatic growth, autism spectrum variable added (3.5%), parents gender variable added (3.0%). Physical disability, mental disability, sensory disability, duration of diagnosis, and educational level and the number of disabled children in the family, did not contribute to the prediction of post-traumatic growth.
