Assessing Jordanian 17th House of Representatives' Monitoring and Legislative Performance: Perspective of Jordanian Universities Political Science Staff Members

Abstract

This study aims to show the reality of the practice of members of the 17th Jordanian parliament for their regulatory and legislative roles from the viewpoint of the faculty members of political science in Jordanian universities. The study was based on the hypothesis that: There is a statistically significant relationship at the level of (α ≥ 0.05) between the personal variables of the members of the study sample and the reality of practice for the members of the 17th Parliament. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical survey method and developed a questionnaire, then verified its Psychometric characteristics with regard to accuracy and reliability.

    The questionnaire included legislative and regulatory parts. The legislative part consisted of 16 main questions, while the regulatory part consisted of 13. The questionnaire was sent to 78 members of the study sample and 56 questionnaires were retrieved. A total of 22 questionnaires were excluded due to their invalidity, and thus, 56 questionnaires were subject to the analysis.
