The Effectiveness of an Educational Unit based on Approach STEM Integration in the Acquisition of Environmental Concepts Among Eighth Basic Grade Students

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of designing an educational unit based on an integration approach STEM and its effect in the acquisition of environmental concepts among eighth grade students in Jerash Governorate, in the academic year 2019/2020. The study sample consists of (49) female students. one tool for collecting data were developed, environmental concepts test. In its five dimensions (semantics, discovering of the scientific concept, interpreting of observations, using the concept in solving problems, using the concept in inference and generalization). The findings showed that there were statistically significant differences between the two averages of posttest on the acquisition of environmental concepts test in its five dimensions ؛ in favor of students of the experimental group compared to the control group students. The results showed that the size of the effect there of (74.78% for the skill of using the scientific concept in inference and generalization, 65.54% for the skill of concept discovery, 54.13% for the skill of determining the verbal significance, 52.63% for the skill of interpreting observations, 34.22% for the skill of using the scientific concept in solving problems.
