The level of Perceived Social Support among Battered Syrian Refugee Women

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the level of perceived social support among battered Syrian refugee women. To achieve the aims of the study the survey descriptive approach was used, by using the perceived social support scale after checking validity and reliability. The sample of the study consisted of (300) battered Syrian refugee women. The findings of the study showed that the level of perceived social support at an average level on all domains and the total score. Further, there were no significant statistical differences for the domains of perceived social support attributed to (years of marriage, residence nature, and abuse type) among battered Syrian refugee women. There were no significant statistical differences between the means of (encouraging others) domain among battered Syrian refugee women attributed to monthly income. The findings showed that there were significant statistical differences for the domains of (social support network, emotional support, financial support, and evaluative support battered Syrian refugee women attributed to monthly income variable. Based on the findings the study recommended several recommendations such as; providing programs explaining the methods of social support and how to use those programs.
