The Effectiveness of Free Reading Strategy in Developing Creative Reading Skills among Tenth Basic Grade Students
Abstract
he study aimed investigating the effectiveness of free reading strategy on developing creative reading skills among tenth basic grade female students in Jordan. To achieve the aims of the study, the researchers prepared creative reading skills test, consisted of (16) items distributed into creative reading dimensions (fluency, originality, flexibility, and elaboration). The sample of the study consisted of (60) tenth basic grade female students, selected by the available method, (30) students in the control group taught by the conventional method, and (30) ones in the experimental group taught by free reading strategy. The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in creative reading skills as a whole, and in its dimensions between experimental and control groups, due to the teaching strategy, in favor of the experimental group taught by free reading strategy.
