Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness and acceptance therapy in reducing the level of smiling depression among a sample of working women in Al-Hassan Industrial zone in Irbid, Jordan. The study sample consisted of 30 women working in the al-Hassan Industrial zone. they were randomly assigned to two equal groups: the experimental group (n=15) and participated in the group counseling program and the control group (n=15) that did not participate in any intervention program. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Pick II Depression List (BDI-II) and the Smiling Depression Scale were used to collect study data in the pre and post-tests of the two study groups, and in the follow-up test with only the experimental group members, in addition to a group counseling program based on the mindfulness and acceptance approach. The ANCOVA and MANCOVA results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α=0.05) between the two-arithmetic mean of the pre and post measurement of the level of smiling depression according to the group in the post-test in favor of the experimental group, which indicates the effectiveness of the indicative program. Also, the results of the dimensional and tracheal comparisons among the members of the experimental group indicated that there were no statistically significant differences for the (T) test for the correlated samples of the Smile Depression Scale and its dimensions. This means that the program will continue to have an impact despite a period of time after its end. The researcher Recommended training counselors working with working women on the skills and methods of mindfulness and accepted therapy which used in this study and its application in the field of work.
